Written by David Leddick, with music by Andrew Sargent Directed by David Kingery
10 performances only (March 21st through 31st)
At the Richmond Shepard Theatre
309 East 26th Street, NYC

NEW YORK, NY – V.J. Colonna Productions in association with RENTBOY.COM will present a showcase production of David Leddick’s and Andrew Sargent’s musical Rent Boy... the Musical for 10 performances at the Richmond Shepard Theatre from Thursday March 21st through Sunday March 31st.

David Leddick will star in the role of the Master of Ceremonies. Additional cast members include Michael Argento (B.C. and Mike Jones), Mario Castro (Edge and German Master), Brendon Daugherty (Awards Assistant), Randall Holloway (Don K. Dick), Parker Krug (Devon Williams), and Andrew Rix (the Client).

Rent Boy...the Musical breaks entirely new ground in New York theater. This lively new musical is set on the night of the famous Hookies Awards, the Oscars of Male Escorts, where gigolos receive awards for their erotic talents.

These performances of Rent Boy...the Musical have been planned to take place in NYC around the 2013 Hookies Awards -- which take place at The Roseland Ballroom on March 22nd. Members of the Rent Boy...the Musical cast will be performing numbers from the show at the awards ceremony.

In the show we see the gala awards ceremony, we hear the personal stories of men-for- sale, and wacky, raunchy tales about their working lives. There are romantic songs too, as love grows between a Rentboy and one of his clients. It’s a wild and wonderful new kind of musical romp with 14 original songs, which reveal the stories of these male escorts, in words, song, dance, and in the flesh.

Writer David Leddick is known world-wide for his novels and art books. The author of

the Lambda Award-winning books: Naked Men, and The Male Nude, he has published

more than 20 works that are available at Amazon.com. His newest book, Gorgeous

Gallery published by Bruno Gmunder has just been released.

Leddick also starred in the musical It’s A Fabulous Life which played to sold-out

crowds at the Broward Center of the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale and the Colony

Theater in Miami Beach. He has appeared in the world premiere of The 11 O’clock

Number, as well as Terrance McNally’s Some Men, both at the Rising Action Theater

in Fort Lauderdale. And most recently in the double-bill Mr. Charles, Currently of Palm

Beach, by Paul Rudnick and Mexico City, which he wrote. He has also written four

musicals with Andrew Sargent as composer: The Secrets of the Chorus, Quentin and

I, Gilda Lilly, and Escorts. His most recent show, How To Be Gay, was composed by

David Cohen.

Composer Andrew Sargent has also written the music for The Secrets of the Chorus,

a backstage-backstabbing musical tale, and It’s a Fabulous Life. His scores are

featured in the mini-musical about Quentin Crisp titled Quentin and I, and the starry-

eyed Hollywood fable, Gilda Lilly. And, of course, he wrote the score to the standing-

room only hit, Escorts. His most recent show was the stunning Miami Beach, the Musical. Sargent studied music at the University of Montevallo, Alabama.

Director David Kingery is one of Philadelphia's most in-demand actor, singer, director, and music producers. Rent Boy...the Musical is one of his many collaborations with Mr. Leddick, having directed Quentin and I, Presenting Gilda Lilly and Escorts. He also was the founding Artistic Director for the South Beach Gay Men's Chorus.

Musical Director, Phil Hall, was on Broadway when he conducted Play Me A Country

Song and was associate conductor for the Broadway revival of Mame, which starred

Angela Lansbury. He conducted the third national tour of Cats. He musical directed

Side By Side By Sondheim at Michigan Opera Theatre. He conducted The Wizard Of

Oz which starred Phyllis Diller as the Wicked Witch at both St. Louis' MUNY and

Indianapolis' Starlight Theatres. He conducted the premiere of the musical, The Prince

Of Central Park, which starred Nanette Fabray, and musical directed Some

Enchanted Evening at The Kennedy Center. He appeared on stage in Paper Mill's

1989 spring production of Show Boat, which aired on PBS' Great Performances series,

playing the role of Jake who accompanies Julie for the song "Bill." Phil composed the

score for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which was produced at Paper Mill Playhouse,

Kansas City Starlight Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre and Santa Barbara Civic

Light Opera. He vocally arranged Sophisticated Ellington, a concert of Duke

Ellington's music, which was presented at Carnegie Hall by Erich Kunzel and the

Cincinnati Pops Orchestra in March of 1999. Phil's first play with music, Matthew

Passion, was produced at the American Theatre of Actors' Chernuchin Theatre in 2007

in New York City.
